Launch Program of Music Video on Road Safety ट्राफिक नियमको पालना गरौँ

The Road Safety Music Video titled ट्राफिक नियमको पालना गरौँ Launch Program was organized by Indaram Health in collaboration with National Road Safety Council, Nepal Police, and Rotary Club of Kathmandu Circle in the following date and venue.

Venue: Conference Hall, Roads Board Nepal, Min-Bhawan, Kathmandu

The gathering in the launch program consisted of students and their parents who participated in the video recording along with representatives from National Road Safety Council, Nepal Police, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Circle as well as Road Safety activists in Nepal.

The program commenced at 11:45 AM with Mr. Nugal Ananda Vaidya serving as the master of ceremony. The opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Satish Prasad Barnawal (Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon from B&B Hospital and Project Lead: Road Safety at Indaram Health). Drawing from his extensive experience in treating accident victims, Dr. Barnawal provided valuable insights into the making of the road safety awareness video. He highlighted the common mistakes that lead to road accidents in Nepal, emphasizing that many of these incidents could be prevented through basic safety measures such as following traffic rules, wearing helmets, seat belts, and avoiding reckless driving. Following this, Er. Saroj Kumar Pradhan (Technical Advisor from the National Road Safety Council) presented a brief and impactful overview of the current road traffic situation in Nepal. His presentation stressed the rising number of road traffic crashes and the crucial role that awareness campaigns play in addressing this growing concern.

The highlight of the event was the official release of the road safety awareness video, which was conducted jointly by Mr. Bishwo Raj Khadka (SP: Superintendent of Police, Nepal Police), Mr. Suresh Shrestha, (Senior Divisional Engineer from Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT)) as well as Mr Ganesh Bahadur KC (Executive Director, Roads Board Nepal) and other stakeholders.

All of the dignitaries emphasized the collective responsibility of the public in adhering to road safety regulations. They commended the use of innovative and child-friendly approaches in the video to convey the importance of road safety. Mr. Binod Singh (Past AIG, Nepal Police) appreciated the role play of the students and the entire team in the video.

Ms. Chetna Thapa (Director, Road Boards Nepal) emphasized on importance of the student level performance in the video. Ms. Bidwisha Mainali (One of the lead child artists in the video and student for Apex Life School) expressed the need of involvement of students in promotion of road safety measures in Nepal.

Further, Mr. Nabin Bhujel (Lead Role in the Video, Nepal Police) mentioned his experience in the making of the video. Dr. Ashok Bajracharya (Post Crash Response Specialization) stressed on the need of such videos at the community level. Mrs. Chandika Bhetwal (Teacher from Apex Life School) highlighted her role as special appearance in the video.

As a token of appreciation, certificates were awarded to the students, key contributors and supporters in the making of the music video. The event effectively engaged children and utilized creative media to deliver a strong message that road safety is a shared responsibility for individuals of all ages. The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. Buddhi Prasad Acharya (President of the Rotary Club of Kathmandu Circle) who acknowledged the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in making the event a success.

A Cross-Sectional Survey

Perception of precautions, knowledge, behaviors, and preventive measures regarding road safety along with road traffic crashes among general public of Nepal: A Cross-Sectional Survey

Dear Sir/Madam,

This research, an initiative of Indaram Health, aims to evaluate awareness among general population of Nepal regarding road safety and road traffic crashes. The study is supposed to collect data regarding awareness level. It is a simple survey whereby a participant will provide information at single point of contact.

The results of the survey will be beneficial in understanding the current situation of the perception of different aspects related to road safety in Nepal which will in turn help in formulating different plans and activities in community. It will be eventually benefitted at the community and in person level of our society.

As this is a simple survey being conducted after ethical approval from Nepal Health Research Council, there are no risks to the participants.

Kindly note that there is no provision of payment or reimbursement to the participants of the survey. It is totally voluntary participation and the participant has complete right to withdraw at any point of time during data collection procedure.

Privacy and confidentiality of the participants will be maintained. Biological material or specimen of the participants will not be used in the study.

We would like to express sincere gratitude for your time considering this survey. This survey aims to assess the public understanding with regards to road safety, its perspectives and preventive measures that can be adopted to minimize road traffic crashes in Nepal.

We will come up with trainings, workshops and other activities in line with the impression of the study. Further, the findings of the study will be helpful at governance level for formulating different kinds of policies as areas of need, actual vacuum and level of awareness regarding road safety along with road traffic crashes will be highlighted through the current study.

Indaram Health in coordination with SQC UDAAN Team, St. Xavier’s College, Maitighar, Kathmandu, Nepal has provided one hundred and twelve packets of sanitary pads for the well-being of Jajarkot Earthquake’s survivors.

The earthquake of 5.7 rector scale magnitude on November 3, 2023, in Jajarkot, Karnali Province of Nepal at 23:47 hours claimed 154 lives in Jajarkot and Rukum West.
